Temperance Society

Extract from the autobiography of Thomas Coleman Clarke

1860 The Raunds Temperance Hall was built about this time (the first in the county) by £1 shares by the working men who had joined the movement.

About this time (1861) a Choral Society was formed in Raunds. I being the youngest member was appointed to the important position of librarian and lighter-up at the Temperance Hall.
