39 Church Street
Postcard c1905 - 39 Church Street (left)

John Woodward, a plumber and glazier, was born in Leicester and had married Elizabeth from Wilstead, Bedfordshire, when they settled in Irchester and raised their family there.

They moved to High Street Rushden in the late 1870s. The house at 39 Church Street, was built about 1885 and had a water closet added in 1893. It was the home of John and his family until 1909.

In 1909 Andrew Austin moved to the house, and later a member of the Campion family lived there.

The house was demolished in the 1970s for road widening.
