Rushden Club & Reading Room

CLUB AND READING ROOMThe second annual meeting of the members of the Rushden Club and Reading-room was held in the Vestry-hall, on Saturday last, the Rev. J. T. Barker in the chair. From the accounts presented, it appeared that the income from all sources amounted to £58 16s. 4d., and the expenditure, £58 15s. 2d., leaving a balance of 1s. 2d. in hand. The position of the club was considered very satisfactory.

The following officers were then elected for the ensuing year: Rev. J. T. Barker, president; Messrs. Wilkins and H. Packwood, secretaries; Mr. Foskett, treasurer; Mr. W. Darnell, collector; and Messrs. G. Denton, J. Warren, W. Packwood, W. Clarke, J. Claridge, J. T. Colson, J. Sargent, D. Tomlin, and W. Denton, committee.

Club and Reading Room—The annual meeting of the members of the above was held on Saturday last. The balance sheet showed a balance in hand of £8, which was considered satisfactory. It was resolved to spend £6 in books, to be added to the library. It has been decided that ladies are eligible as library members. The following are the officers: President, Rev. Canon Barker; vice-president, Mr. W. Foskett; treasurer, Mr. W. Foskett; secretary, Mr. J. T. Colson; collector, Mr. G. F. Ward; librarians, Messrs. J. T. Colson and W. Wood; general committee, Messrs. W. Ekins, F. Knight, C. Stevens, W. Clark, W. Colson, S. Knight, A. Clayton, S. Colson, J. Claridge, F. Linnitt; book committee, Messrs. F. Knight, C. L. Bradfield, W. Wilkins and J. T. Colson.

PAROCHIAL CLUB AND READING-ROOM: ANNUAL MEETING—The annual meeting of the above was held in the Vestry Hall on Saturday, the 1st inst., when the treasurer (Mr. W. Foskett), reported a balance in hand of about £8. It was decided to dispose of this sum in the purchase of a bookcase and an addition to the library. The election of officers took place as follows: President, Rev. Canon Barker; vice-president, Mr. W. Foskett; secretary, Mr. J. T. Colson; collector, Mr. W. Clark, jun.; librarians, Messrs. F. Woodward and the secretary. A committee of 12 were also appointed.

From the treasurer's report it appeared the Club had a balance in hand of about £5, which it was decided should be spent in books for the library. The following were chosen as officers for the ensuing year:—Dr. Owen, president; Mr. F. Knight, vice-president: Mr. W. Wilkins, treasurer; Mr. J. T. Colson, secretary; Mr. C. Green, collector; Mr. W. Clark and Mr. J. T. Colson, librarians; committee, Messrs. C. L. Bradfield, F. S. Knight, W. Clark, sen., A. Wright, J. Knight, and S. Chettle; book committee, Messrs. W. Wilkins, C. L. Bradfield, F. Knight, and the librarians.
