Rushden People admitted to Northampton Hospital

The hospital opened in 1744 and admissions were recorded in large volumes. The books give details of name, age, parish, sponsor and illness, how long they had been suffering. When they left a note was made on the outcome - "cured, relieved or dead". There are another 24 volumes.

NOTICE is hereby given, That a Special Court will be held here on Saturday the 30th of September next, for the Purpose of taking into Consideration the Expediency and Propriety of joining with the County of Northampton in the Erection and Establishment of a LUNATIC ASYLUM, under the Provision of an Act of Parliament lately passed for that Purpose.
