Annual Party at Rushden Hospital

The Drive and Lodge, Rushden Hospital.
All the old tree trunks were kept so that coloured lights could be strung between
them for special occasions, such as Christmas, etc.

A trail of brightly coloured fairy lights above the drive-way into Rushden Hospital welcomed visitors to the annual party of Saturday organised by the Rushden and Higham Ferrers TB Care Committees for patients and staff.

Before tea, prayers were led by the Rector Rushden, the Rev. I. E. Douglas-Jones, and guests were welcomed by the chairman of the Rushden and Higham Ferrers TB Care Committees, Mr. A. C. A. Colton, who was accompanied by Mrs. Colton.

Among the visitors were the chairman of the Rushden Urban Council, Mr. Cyril Freeman, and the Rushden Carnival Queen of Industry, Miss Valerie Ainge.

During the tea, music was played by Charles and his Band.  The party cake was provided by the Higham Ferrers Committee, and made by Mrs. E. Faulkner, a committee member.

A concert included items from Irene Turner, Bert Catlin, Margaret Hilson, Caroline Burnett and Richard Ekins (members of Rushden Amateur Theatrical Society), Jean Spencer and Charlie Jones.
