'Friends' buy more radios

Two more wireless sets are to be bought by the "Friends of Rushden Sanatorium" for the benefit of the patients. It also decided at Monday's meeting to buy curtains for the men's television room, golf putters, playing cards and hold a strawberry tea for all patients.

Presenting the 1957 accounts, the treasurer, Miss A. M. Sharwood, said there had been an income of £179 13s. 4d., including donations of £54 5s. 6d. and £8 5s. from the Christmas appeal.

Gifts to the sanatorium and to the patients were of varied nature and amounted to £108 16s. 4d. The bank balance was £308 which had been reduced during the current year by the purchase of three wireless sets.

Mrs. E. Hensman was re-elected chairman. Mr. E. Prior auditor and Miss A. M. Sharwood secretary and treasurer.
