Mr. Walter William Rial

Retired Head Dies

Headmaster at Rushden Alfred Street School for 25 years Mr. Walter William Rial (74) died on Monday at Bridport, Dorset, where he was living in retirement.

Mr. and Mrs. Rial came from Yorkshire to Rushden, and it was after a quarter of a century of service at the school that Mr. Rial retired to Bridport 14 years ago.

At one time he was president of Northants County Association of the National Union of Teachers.

As a Freemason, he was a member of Rushden Pemberton Lodge, the Wellingborough Chapter and the Kettering Knight Templars, obtaining high degrees in all branches.

Mr. and Mrs. Rial celebrated their golden wedding in June, 1947. The widow resides at "Askerlea," St. Andrew's Rd., Bridport. There are two daughters, Mrs. S. Desmond Rieley, of Higham Ferrers, and Miss P. Rial.
