Mr. C. W. Horrell established the business in the year 1894, and since that time few houses have made greater headway or enjoy a finer reputation. The proprietor was an old student of technology under Mr. E. J. Swaysland, our foremost teacher, and is also thoroughly practical in all the science of shoe manufacture. In all the home and export markets the productions of this firm are well and favourably known for both style and reliability. Since the War practically the whole of the production has been military footwear, and large quantities have been delivered to the War Office for the British and Allied Governments. In normal times Mr. Horrell is assisted by his only son, Mr. W. M. C. Horrell, who is now Signal Instructor with the Royal Garrision Artillery. The head of the concern has, by hard and conscientious work, won the confidence of his fellow manufacturers, and is connected with many and various organisations for the good of the trade and the town he resides in. Alert and progressive, he should go far.
