These two photographs were given to us by Ken Smith, whose father John is front row 1st left, on the top picture.
Ken tells us he thinks the two pictures were taken at Shoreham, Sussex 1914/5. Note: by email from Peter Weaver: These two photgraphs were actually taken at Southwick, Sussex, just a couple of miles east of Shoreham.
They were taken by J G Ripley and are numbered 314 & 387. In picture 314 (bottom) Ken's father is marked with an arrow and he had identified several other men, and numbered them:-
